Sit comfortably in a chair, uncross your legs and allow your body to relax as much as possible; you could also do this lying down if you prefer. Firstly, become aware of your breathing; do not change its rhythm, just focus on your breath for about a minute. Now take your awareness down to your heart and imagine breathing in through your heart and then breathing out through your heart and continue this for a few minutes or however long feels comfortable to you. Whilst doing this I would like you to try and focus on a colour that feels right for you in that moment (it may be a different colour every time you do this and that is fine). Totally immerse yourself in the colour and focus on the heart breathing.
This is a very simple exercise but please do not underestimate its potential. By focusing on your breath coming from the heart, you are helping to build coherence between your heart and brain, which has numerous benefits including balancing your emotions, bringing calm to your thoughts, helping with your mental clarity.
